How do I reinstall XP Media Center? The installing disc that came with my pc
is corrupted and I have no backup. I originally tried to figure out how to
access the Media Center so we could set it up, but can't find any reference
to it in my files.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks,
JulsB.

Contact the manufacturer of your PC. They have the right to charge you for
a replacement and may well do so. Your only alternative to this is to
purchase something like:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116049

or upgrade to Vista Premium which also has the media center features.

I don't think XP has a built in MPEG-2 video codec. I always had to install
a third-party DVD player before Media Center would work.

Did you ever get this resolved? I have the same problem. Live TV in Media
center worked previously but stopped recently and gives me the same error
message you got. I re-installed the driver for my video capture board but
the problem persists.

I don't recall that I installed a driver that would cause the problem. I
think I did play a DVD for the first time shortly before the problem
appeared. I have not tried a system restore. May try that after I
re-install my DVD driver.
